Join me on a thrilling adventure as I navigate the challenges of dirt biking with my KTM 300, lovingly nicknamed 'Spicy Bitch.' Despite my initial apprehensions and fears of holding others back, I find myself pushing boundaries and exploring the terrains in Barnhartvale, Kamloops. The day starts with a tumble in the sand, setting the tone for the unexpected. Riding last in the group, I tackle familiar trails and new challenges, including a steep climb and drop-off that tests my mettle. 'Spicy Bitch' proves her worth, effortlessly taking on the terrain and reminding me of my love for riding. As I write, my heart races with the memory of the exhilarating ride, wishing I had a GoPro to capture every moment of the adventure.

Hey there, fellow riders!

Today, I'm excited to share with you the exhilarating experience I had on my first ride of the season with my beloved KTM 300, fondly known as 'Spicy Bitch.' This ride was not just about hitting the trails; it was a journey of conquering fears, pushing limits, and rediscovering my love for dirt biking.

The day started like any other riding day, with the air rife with excitement as we unloaded our bikes and geared up. I couldn't wait to feel the rush of adrenaline as I tackled familiar trails and maybe even some new challenges. However, before I could even get ten feet from the trailer, I hit a soft patch of sand and found myself on the ground, WTF had just happened. With my son Rueben saying "How'd you manage that?", I got back on my bike, ready to take on whatever the day had in store.

Barnhartvale is a great place to ride with something for everyone, there are smooth flowy trails, a track (pretty whooped out), challenging hills and rock faces. All in all, its a pretty fantastic place for the first ride of the season. This year, there is a map with the trails marked out, green (easy) and black (harder), so that's pretty cool!

I always choose to go last in the line up. It's usually our boys, Chris and then any other people that came with us, and then me. I find it takes some of the pressure off, I kinda turn into a squid if there is someone behind me. Today, Rueben is leading, and where does he go? Well of course to the trail he has been anticipating since we decided to go riding at Barnharvale a week before - the one with the steep climb and drop off. F. So...there are always choices in life, haha, but when you are on a dirtbike and you can not communicate with the leader, you just have to follow. There is no wimping out. Good thing the ride to the harder trails is a good warm up.

As we are riding, my bike is operating soooo prime and I get this excitement building up- oh she's a spicy bitch- so fun to ride. She will go anywhere and makes riding so fun and easy. I am singing and whooping as we go over, up and down all the fun spots.

Even the challenging trails felt easy, like I had never been away from riding during the winter months. It is moments like these that make me realize how much I love riding and how much 'Spicy Bitch' adds to that joy.

We finally reached the spot Rueben had been eager to explore, and I found myself keeping up with the guys, doing everything they did. It was exhilarating, and I felt like I was on top of the world. I couldn't wipe the grin off my face, and my heart was pounding with excitement. I wished I had a GoPro to capture every thrilling moment of the ride.

As I sit here writing this, the memories of that ride still fresh in my mind, I can't help but feel grateful for the experience. Riding 'Spicy Bitch' reminds me of the joy and freedom that dirt biking brings, and I can't wait for the next adventure.

Until next time, ride safe and ride free!
